FUD

We geeks love our acronyms. One everyone should be aware of is FUD - Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. Microsoft tried to use FUD to try to keep users from using alternative operating systems like Linux or Mac OSX. That marketing program failed.

Notice the tone of the Federal Government these days. It's all peaches and cream, sunsine, rainbows and puppy dogs. The economy is in recovery! Everyone drink the kool-aid. I'm not going out on a limb here. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a false rally, that the foundation of our economy, the US dollar, has flaws that will need to be addressed or it's going to all come tumbling down. Probably sooner rather than later.

When the government needs to rally the people, I expect them to go back to FUD to get the nitwits in congress to follow Obama, The Fed, and the Treasuries harebrained scheme. I can see the quotes now:
"We need to act now to save our economy..."
"The TARP-XVI bill will ensure the current market rally will be able to sustain growth..."
"Without governmental aid to restructure these companies..."
Blah Blah fucking Blah. The mainstream media's lack of any sort of investigation into what's going on these days is like the whine of a mosquito. It's annoying, but it's not going to kill you. Where are the journalists with balls these days? Carl Berstein and Bob Woodward, where are you now?

Glenn Beck seems like he's trying to shake up something with his show, but the "left leaning" ie hard to port media does its best to mock and ridicule him. I swear if someone gave me a tea bagging joke for going to a tea party I'd punch him (or her) right in the chops.

So the hard part for all of us is to cut through the bullshit and glean the truth of what's going on. It's no easy task. I spend at least an hour a day reading and thinking on how it will affect me.

someone much more sophisticated than i, had to explain the teabag double entendre to me. i don't hang out with any flaming queers(as far as i know) so i didn't have a clue about it. i hear they know all about the subject at CNN and MSNBC though.

years back i thought it was shocking to hear on daytime t.v. about "pubic hairs on a Coke can"; (during the anita hill clarence thomas hearings) do they talk about this teabagging crap when children are likely to be awake? i don't even look at disneys "family channel" because their content seems to be too adult. is there anyone in the media today who isn't a degenerate?

what i'm trying to say is... over the last 40 years the decline of our culture and manners in this country has been astounding. even over the last 20 years it's amazing how coarse the language has become. (can you say incrementalism?)

the "mainstream" media is only interested in the crimes of republicans anyhow. they are happy to promote FUD because it paralyzes people, so we'll be inefectual in our resistance. the more they dumb us down, the harder they hit us over the head with their ideology. and by the way we're all just a bunch of racists for opposing obamas policies.

I understand what you mean. When i was a kid no one, I mean no one swore in public. Now I can't even wait in line at a grocery store without hearing a lot of F-Bombs. Granted I'm just as guilty, but that don't make it right.

I've also noticed the lack of common courtesy. A woman with a kid and bags of stuff in her arms was genuinely touched I waited 30 seconds to hold a door open for her.

I know what you mean about manners. A while back I was at out Post Office and watched a man let a very heavy door slam shut on a very frail older lady. Fortunately, I was behind her, and being nearly 6ft tall, was able to reach over her head and stop it before she was flattened. After making sure she was safely in, I proceeded to rip into the nitwit that dropped the door on her. I asked him what happened to his manners and such, and he just stared at me, chewing his cud, dumbfounded. He didnt say a word.

After he left, the gal patted my arm and I had to smile as SEVERAL gentlemen rushed to open the door for her on her way out.

I know I have raised my children better than that.

Thanks for letting me rant!lol

Love you blog, visit it most every day!

i wasn't complaining about your language by the way. we're all grown-ups here. if i know it would be a problem there are other blogs i can refer people to. i've dropped the "F-bomb" in public myself, much to my shame. that's one of maybe two bad words that's still off limits on radio and t.v. but i've heard them on ocasion. (foul language is always inappropriate on the HAM bands)

things may have always sucked, but i never knew about it until around the time of jimmy carter. by the time the clintons were in it was common to hear that everywhere too. (and ocasionally in the broadcast media) back in the day, the term included what was being sucked as well. the level of derision being set by whether it was a human part or a donkeys. now since monica-gate both the act and the expression are practically mainstream. (although always remember that the mainstream goes over the falls first)(an important life lesson i learned from wyle e coyote)
